NFL in the UK

leave a comment »

Well I can’t be a UK based NFL blogger without offering some thoughts on the Giants Dolphins game on Sunday. There is a big NFL following here in the UK and it’s great to see a regular season game at Wembley. It’s a shame that the Dolphins are on such a bad run of form as it looks as though it could be a real one sided affair on Sunday. The Giants are on a roll after a 0-2 start and will be looking to inflict an 8th defeat on the Dolphins.

Week 8 Preview – Jacksonville at Tampa Bay

leave a comment »

The Bucs head back to the RayJay after a tough loss on the road to the Detroit Lions. Despite the fumbles that cost them the game the Bucs will be buoyed by the offensive performance led by Jeff Garcia and Earnest Graham. The Jags are 4-2 and had started to get on a roll until they came up against the Superbowl Champion Colts. However the loss was made worse when it was revealed that starting QB David Garrard will miss 3-4 weeks with a high ankle sprain.

Garrard to miss game ?

Bucs Fumble Away Win To Lions

leave a comment »

Somehow the Bucs managed to come away from Ford Field without the win on Sunday, thanks in part to two uncharacteristic fumbles. The game changing fumble was recovered by Detroit at their 7-yard line when the Bucs looked odds on to score. The Lions capitalised on the error and scored nine plays later when Calvin Johnson scored on a reverse. The touchdown drive took 5:21 off the clock and put the game out of reach of the Bucs despite a spirited comeback. The Bucs are now 4-3 and next the face the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Despite the best efforts of Graham the Bucs lost in Detroit

Roy Williams Trash Talks Garcia

leave a comment »

So the trash talking has started before Sundays game against the Lions. Roy Williams has decided to comment on Garcia’s 2005 season with the Detroit Lions.

“He blamed everybody but himself,” said Williams, who was in his second year in the league in 2005. “I respected the man. I just didn’t like the fact that it would be (the receivers’) fault and never his fault. It’s always the receivers’ fault.” Williams downplayed Garcia’s command of the West Coast offense, saying, “My son can run the West Coast system, and he’s only 2.”

Jeff Garcia didn’t have the best of times at Detroit for the season he was there. But if it was all Garcia’s fault then why was the team so bad with Joey Harrington.

Oh well it’s just another thing to spur on Garcia and he’ll like nothing more than taking the Bucs to Detroit and coming away with the win.

Stick to delivering pizza’s Roy !! 🙂

Gaines Adams Misses Practice – Other Injury updates

leave a comment »

Gaines Adams missed practice on Thursday due to a chest strain picked up in the game against the Titans. Adams who picked up his first career sack on Sunday was held out of Thursday PM practice but Jon Gruden is hopeful he will play against the Lions.

Alex Smith looks likely to miss Sunday after he missed practice again and Gruden sounded less than confident about Smith. If he misses out Jerramy Stevens will step in alongside Anthony Becht as the TE’s.

Adams a doubt for Sunday ?

Week 7 Preview – Tampa Bay at Detroit

leave a comment »

Fresh off another win the Bucs head north to face the Detroit Lions. The Lions are 3-2 and will be looking to keep themselves in the race for the NFC North. The Bucs have bolstered their running game this week with the signing of Michael Bennett and will need to be able to control the clock against a highly potent Detroit offence led by Jon Kitna. Detroit have one of the best WR’s cores in the league led by Roy Williams and rookie Calvin Johnson, they also possess underrated WR’s in Mike Furrey and Shaun McDonald. If Kitna can start to find his receivers then it could be a long day for the Bucs secondary.
