Playoff Review: Bucs Well Beaten By Giants 24-14

leave a comment »

So the Bucs season comes to an end with a disappointing defeat at the hands of Eli Manning and the Giants. The Bucs started promisingly, taking a 7-0 lead but 2 key turnovers and a leaky offensive line proved too much for the Bucs to overcome.

Brandon Jacobs 2 TD’s helped the Giants to a comfortable win.

Michael Spurlock Runs into Bucs History

with one comment

I’ve not blogged for a while and this certainly deserves one.

After 32 seasons and 1,865 attempts, 141 different returners, Tampa Bay have finally returned a kickoff for a touchdown.  The man to create a little piece of Bucs history ? step forward, Michael Spurlock. Spurlock, a former practice squad player who got his chance after Mark Jones was lost to IR, took the ball at the 10, evaded the on rushing Falcons and outran the  cover down the sideline.

Here’s the kick off return in all its glory from YouTube

Bucs Bye Week Review

leave a comment »

After a fast start the Bucs have stumbled to the half way point of the season with a record of 5-4. The Bucs could easily be 7-2 but lost winnable games against the Lions and Jaguars. The season has progressed under a cloud of injuries to key starters but there has been a number of bright spots through the first half of the season. Jeff Garcia has been a revelation at QB and has provided key leadership under centre. Should i be happy with 5-4 or feel that the team have let slip 2 winnable games ?

Garcia has led the Bucs to 5-4 at the bye week

NFL in the UK

leave a comment »

Well I can’t be a UK based NFL blogger without offering some thoughts on the Giants Dolphins game on Sunday. There is a big NFL following here in the UK and it’s great to see a regular season game at Wembley. It’s a shame that the Dolphins are on such a bad run of form as it looks as though it could be a real one sided affair on Sunday. The Giants are on a roll after a 0-2 start and will be looking to inflict an 8th defeat on the Dolphins.

Bucs Fumble Away Win To Lions

leave a comment »

Somehow the Bucs managed to come away from Ford Field without the win on Sunday, thanks in part to two uncharacteristic fumbles. The game changing fumble was recovered by Detroit at their 7-yard line when the Bucs looked odds on to score. The Lions capitalised on the error and scored nine plays later when Calvin Johnson scored on a reverse. The touchdown drive took 5:21 off the clock and put the game out of reach of the Bucs despite a spirited comeback. The Bucs are now 4-3 and next the face the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Despite the best efforts of Graham the Bucs lost in Detroit

Gaines Adams Misses Practice – Other Injury updates

leave a comment »

Gaines Adams missed practice on Thursday due to a chest strain picked up in the game against the Titans. Adams who picked up his first career sack on Sunday was held out of Thursday PM practice but Jon Gruden is hopeful he will play against the Lions.

Alex Smith looks likely to miss Sunday after he missed practice again and Gruden sounded less than confident about Smith. If he misses out Jerramy Stevens will step in alongside Anthony Becht as the TE’s.

Adams a doubt for Sunday ?
